Why Law?
Honor demands the pursuit of justice. The legal system in America is designed for that pursuit and I strive as an attorney within that system to preserve and achieve that honorable and laudable objective...And I love the thrill of battle in court, as a gladiator does in an arena.
After my second year of law school, I was a legal intern for the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office. In my third year of law school, I was certified by the Virginia Supreme Court to prosecute criminal trials for the City of Richmond Commonwealth Attorney's Office full time while completing my curriculum studies. I continued as a prosecutor for the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office after law school graduation and followed that work with two years of service as the Chief of the State Parole Division in the Montgomery County Public Defender's Office.
I entered private practice where I have continued my concentration in litigation practice. During my 29 years of litigation experience beginning in 1982, I have litigated countless trials before juuries, judges, masters and arbitrators. I have prosecuted and defended felony criminal trials, obtained numerous six-figure civil case awards and settlements in Auto Accident cases, Workers' Compensation and Fiduciary/Orphans' Court litigation. I have litigated Divorce, Custody, Support and Juvenile Matters. I practice under the theory that the best way to achieve a fair settlement is to be prepared to take the case to trail and absent a fair settlement, to do so ---and WIN.
